Maintenance Supervisor in St. Catharines

pplications are invited for the casual position of Maintenance Worker at West Park Health Centre located in St. Catharines, Ontario. Reporting to the Administrator, the Maintenance Worker performs general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the facility, reports unsafe conditions/situations in accordance with applicable codes and regulations and as directed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs a variety of routine maintenance, servicing and repair operations to maintain facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition.
Observes and monitors all areas of the facility for ongoing maintenance requirements and carries out repairs as required. Documents and implements the preventative maintenance programs. Maintains adequate inventory of tools and spare parts.
Performs mechanical maintenance and repairs to equipment such as replacing drive belts, lubricating motors and hinges, repairs to heating and ventilation systems, repairs to kitchen and laundry equipment, repairs to beds, chairs, tables, etc.
Performs general maintenance and repairs to plumbing and electrical systems such as replacing water valves, clearing drains and removing stoppages, repairing or replacing fixtures, replacing switches, replacing fuses and light bulbs, repairing Emergency Nurse Call and Fire Alarm Systems.
Performs general carpentry work and repairs such as installing floor and wall tiles, repairing drywall, replacing doors and door hardware, repairing roof leaks, painting, installing wallpaper and other redecorating tasks.
Following approval, refers problems requiring specialized work such as electrical or plumbing to outside contractors and monitors work performed; provides general assistance to skilled trade persons such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc. as required.
Adheres to established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, and environment and infection control.

QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years relevant experience and/or knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and heating and ventilation systems. Technical training in building maintenance is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret manuals related to equipment and systems
Ability to work safety, following established safety practices and procedures
Ability to read and write English and understand moderately complex oral and written instructions.

Reporting to the Client Service Supervisor, Occupational, Therapy/Nutrition, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for the assessment and treatment and prevention of functional performance issues in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.

Key Responsibilities

To evaluate Client need based on presenting impairment, disability or handicap, employing standardized assessment tools;
To assess the safety and risk factors of the client/caregivers/health care team and set out appropriate resolutions and/or coping strategies;
To determine whether Occupational Therapy is required;
To design a treatment plan considering evidence-based information, relevant best practice guidelines and clinical expertise;
To set specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-limited and client centered goals;
To determine the need for additional or alternative services;
To organize workload considering client and other team members’ needs;
To incorporate discharge planning into treatment planning/process;
To select and execute appropriate, cost effective intervention strategies;
To educate Clients, Families/Caregivers and the health care team regarding the nature of the client’s illness/ problem, purpose of the interventions, and self-management strategies;
To link Families/ Clients with appropriate community partners/ services;
To evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention, the client’s response, and progress toward goal attainment and/ or need for changes in service;
To evaluate client outcome using appropriate outcome measures;
To collaborate and communicate with the Health Care Team regarding assessment findings, possible barriers, treatment and future planning;
To participate in case conferences as required;
To maintain daily and weekly records of client care activity, which comply with Revera�s regulatory body standards;
To submit timely and accurate clinical and administrative reports;
To comply with Revera’s and college/professional regulatory agency standards of practice;
To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
To complete all other tasks as assigned.
