Full-Time Internal Communications Manager in Rexdale

Job Description

Revera is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Communications Manager with a strong background in internal communications, a passion for employee engagement and demonstrated ability to lead through organizational change. A creative self-starter and gifted story-teller, the manager will be responsible for developing and executing communications strategies to drive business priorities, enhance employee engagement and effectively reach staff at all levels of the organization.

Reporting to the Director of Internal Communications, the Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for leading key Human Resources communication programs, and supporting senior leadership to advance a range of corporate and divisional priorities. An exceptional writer with strong project management skills, the manager is comfortable leading through change, and providing strategic communications counsel in both proactive and reactive situations. The manager is comfortable with change management, and highly effective when working in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities include: 

  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans to support key corporate and divisional initiatives and announcements (e.g., HR communications, business updates, organizational change initiatives)
  • Providing strategic communications counsel to senior leadership to help achieve corporate and divisional priorities (i.e., strategic  approach, tactical recommendations and messaging)
  • Developing and executing communications strategies to support organizational change
  • Preparation of various communication tools including slide decks, speaking remarks, key messages, toolkits, video scripts, quarterly  updates and organizational announcements
  • Managing communications and logistics for town halls, divisional webinars, leadership meetings/teleconferences and key company events
  • Leading development and implementation of key internal programs designed to drive employee engagement (e.g., company-wide recognition program, annual employee engagement survey, staff participation in      community involvement programs)
  • Writing copy for Revera’s internal communication vehicles (e.g., company intranet, employee annual report, senior leadership blogs, quarterly reports)
  • Developing and maintaining exceptional working relationships with teams and leaders across the organization; responding to their needs while balancing organizational priorities and internal resources
  • Supporting external communications initiatives as appropriate, and profiling internally with employees
  • Measuring and benchmarking communications effectiveness of key internal programs

 Qualifications

  • A university or post-graduate degree in a communications-related discipline
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressively senior experience in communications, with a predominant focus on internal communications
  • Experience developing communications strategies for large organizations, and/or projects with multiple audiences
  • Proven track record for creative execution
  • An understanding of employee engagement strategies and experience with implementation of large-scale employee programs
  • Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills, and extensive experience with a wide variety of communications vehicles and styles
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Ability to deliver multiple projects to tight timelines
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Highly motivated and results-driven
  • Comfort in dealing with all levels of management
  • Experience with multi-media tools to enhance communications
  • Experience with issues and crisis management an asset
  • Comfort with social media, and experience in applying it to internal programs
  • Understanding of external PR programs including media relations
