Job Description

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Learning, the incumbent will act as the point of contact and expert for learning related discussions impacting Client Groups. The Learning Consultant will deliver on Learning & Development solutions ensuring alignment with business strategy and in consideration of impact to our Residences.  Functionally, the Learning Consultant will be responsible for the needs analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation for new and existing programs as well as continually improving existing programs.

Practicing our corporate values of RESPECT, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct client group needs assessments, identifying scope and providing advice/counsel in determining L&D needs of the business;
  • Deliver, develop and enhance new/existing training programs, support materials and tools in support of strategic objectives;
  • Structure content and activities for active learning to ensure content matches objectives;
  • Prepare training evaluation tools to measure results / effectiveness of training initiatives consolidating feedback to inform and continuously improve programs;
  • Partner with project manager on corporate initiatives to ensure alignment with criteria for training and L&D best practices;
  • Implement informal learning approaches for sustainment and reinforcement of training;
  • On a regular basis work with client groups to assess learner knowledge transfer to role post training, identify individual development needs and  provide feedback/ideas/coaching to close gaps;
  • Build strong relationships with Operational Leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) and instil sound consultative partnering into the overall Learning team culture;
  • Actively contribute to the team and collaborate with L&D team members on best practices, innovative and creative ideas.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary degree from a recognized institution in education or a related field;
  • Adult education diploma, certificate or degree, or equivalent demonstrated experience;
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated ability applying adult learning practices in needs assessments, instructional design, delivery, and evaluative methods;
  • In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles, training methodologies and best practices;
  • Expert presentation and facilitation skills (classroom, webinars, one on one training) with the ability to confidently facilitate, train-the-trainer and coach;
  • Experience in a variety of learning mediums including classroom,  on-line technologies, Webinars;
  • Project Management experience preferred;
  • Strong relationship management to effectively consult, negotiate and influence solutions with individuals at all levels of the organisation;
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions in an environment with multiple deadlines and changing priorities;
  • Open minded and solution oriented with a proven track record for delivering results;
  • Ability to provide exceptional service by being responsive, collaborative and aware of business partner challenges/needs;
  • Proficiency with MS Office;
  • Experience facilitating through Webex/Adobe Connect/Live Meeting preferred;
  • The ability to participate in travel 10-25%;
  • A valid provincial driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a mandatory requirement.
