Job Description

Retirement Homes within the Windsor area are seeking Part-time / Full-time Servers, Chefs, Cooks to oversee the day-to-day Food and Restaurant operation requirements of residents in their Retirement Home in order to ensure the highest quality service is provided to all residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A summary of duties and responsibilities are listed below. Duties and responsibilities are dependent on the position being considered for.

  • Provides residents with excellent customer service skills.
  • Depending on job, candidate to prepare and/or assist in the preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees, and ensures use of proper food handling techniques.
  • Depending on job, candidate would follow daily production charts, standardized recipes and daily composite menus, while working within a set budget.
  • Depending on job, candidate must comply with all provincial/municipal health and safety legislations, regulations, and established dietary department policies and procedures.
  • Depending on job, candidate to serves meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner, sets and clears dining tables, delivers tray service as required, assists with catering, and actively participates in special occasions and theme events.

Basic Requirements:

  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
  • Must be punctual, reliable and have a flexible work schedule.
  • Must be quick, self organized, have a good professional attitude towards residents and staff.
  • Depending on job, Smart serve certification might be required.
  • Depending on job, experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting is considered an asset.
  • Depending on job, must be able to expedite, delegate, schedule and perform stock rotation.
  • Depending on job, candidate must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate and knowledgeable of the Provincial Food Premises Regulation andCanada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating
  • Experience in the food service industry and working with seniors is considered an asset.
